About Alpha Psi

Alpha Psi was founded in November of 1988 with girls unique of any other Greek affiliation. Alpha Psi is self-governed local sorority. Alpha Psi is also a multicultural organization that participates in philanthropy, socials with other organizations, sisterhoods, risk-management, as well as other special events.

We are the oldest sorority at UCSC and one of the largest.

Alpha Psi requires that girls maintain a 2.0 g. p. a., but many girls exceed this requirement. In fact, the current Alpha Psi average g.p.a is a 3.47. Alpha Psi sisters are also rewarded for high marks.

Inter-Greek Council (IGC)

In IGC, Alpha Psi maintains communication with other organizations that are represented by SOAR.

Philanthrophy

Alpha Psi requires that girls participate in Philanthropy at least once a quarter. In the past, we’ve participated in the Santa Cruz Aidswalk, Big Brothers Big Sisters Bowl-A-Thon, beach-clean-ups and we’ve done card decorating for Jacob’s Heart.

Special Events

Alpha Psi has at least one special event per quarter. Our biggest event is in Fall Quarter, Alpha Psi Birthday Party. In the winter, we have a father-daughter BBQ and a mother-daughter brunch. In the spring, we also have an Alumni Brunch.

Risk Management

Girls are required to attend at least Risk-management per quarter. In the past, we’ve learned to put out fires with the UCSC fire department and we’ve attended a women’s self-defense work-shop.

Alpha Psi promotes relationships with other organizations. We frequently have socials with other organizations.

Alpha Psi has sisterhoods in order to promote unity and tranquility within the sorority. In the past, we decorated cookies, had beach bonfires, white-elephants, and decorated cups at Petroglyphs.
